Thursday, 6th of February 2020, Bildung.city, Amsterdam.
Rethinking ownership and control within advocacy partnerships
What can be done to strengthen the voice of Southern civil society in advocacy programs? The aim of this learning meeting is to support organisations to rethink power and decision-making in the formulation of roles, responsibilities and ways of working when formulating and implementing programs within partnership alliances.
The meeting will start with a presentation by dr. Willem Elbers, Radboud University, based on his research into power dynamics in civil society partnerships. The Shift the Power Lab will share the learnings on power in decision-making, and the results of the testing a prototype of a tool to analyse power in partnerships for development. Subsequently, we will split up in working groups to identify strategies to strengthen ownership and control by local civil society organisations.
