Call for presentations!

As we are curiously waiting for the new framework for Dialogue and Dissent to be published by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we are reaching out to you with this call for presentation for the next Partos Meet Up for the Strategic Partnerships. It is expected that in the new framework the power-relation within partnerships will be an important issue. What does that mean for the role and added value of Dutch civil society organisations? Should they focus more on innovation, connecting, and influencing at the international level? The traditional “North/South divide” and the roles that were assumed with this divide is outdated and many organisations are reinventing their relationships through the formation of alliances, secretariats, or multi-stakeholder partnership platforms. What are inspiring examples of new roles and added value of Northern organisations?

The next linking & learning meetup for the Strategic Partnerships hosted by PARTOS will seek to share inspiring examples of these different roles assumed by Dutch organisations. Dutch civil society organisations will share their experiences in the Strategic Partnerships framework, as well as experiences outside of the framework, to illustrate how they have redefined their role and added value.

There is no uniform civil society in the Global North nor in the Global South. Civil society has evolved in the Netherlands and elsewhere in the world. With this informal meetup, we aim to demonstrate this evolution in practice and inspire the design of future programmes and partnerships.

The set up of this meeting is informed by an article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review that focuses on three factors that influence the roles and added value of international NGOs in the future of transnational NGO advocacy.

We seek Dutch organisations that would like to share their experiences with this new role with:

  • International alliances/consortia/movements/organizations
  • Digital movements and advocacy
  • Southern led advocacy

The set up of these meetings is as follows: 2-3  presentations of 20 minutes each, followed by questions and exchange in working group sessions.

This meeting is prepared by a group consisting of Marlou Geurts (Rode Kruis Nederland), Erik Boonstoppel (Oxfam Novib), Charlotte Floors (IUCN),  Eric van Waveren (SNV), Anne-Marie Heemskerk (Partos).
