Over dit event
The ‘Somatic Compass’ course provides a map for navigating stress and well-being for global development practitioners from a body-oriented perspective. Research shows staggering high rates of anxiety, stress, depression and burn-out in the global development sector. Having seen and experienced this first-hand, global development professionals and somatic facilitators Stine Chen and Tess Pairon have developed a body-oriented approach to well-being and stress management based on the latest neuroscience. The course is offered in collaboration with Partos.
The Somatic Compass course spans four weeks and comprises four modules, each consisting of a 2-hour live Zoom session and supplementary learning materials and home practices to integrate the teachings into your daily life.
Module 1: Embodied Awareness
Being attuned to the messages and signals of our bodies is the foundation of our well-being. This is the core principle and practice of the Somatic Compass, guiding us as we explore different somatic approaches to resourcing.
Module 2: Inner Resourcing
There is a whole well of resources within you at all times. Learn how our most primal resource – breathing – can support your well-being, explore how you can connect to your inner islands of safety, and discover the power of imagination for stress management.
Module 3: Relational Resourcing
We are social creatures wired for connection. Our nervous systems are constantly interacting with and influenced by other people’s nervous systems. Learn how to strengthen your connection with others while supporting your own well-being through co-regulation.
Module 4: Environmental Resourcing
Discover how to support your natural state of well-being through connection with the environment and deepening your relationship with nature.
The Facilitators
Stine Chen is the founder of Body Mind Awareness. She is a somatic coach and facilitator with 10 years of global experience from INGOs, consultancy firms, and academia. As a certified coach and yoga teacher, Stine supports individuals, teams, and organisations in enhancing well-being for greater social impact. In her work, she applies a holistic approach that integrates mindfulness, embodiment, and non-violent communication to enhance wellbeing, enable personal growth and nurture body-mind balance.
Tess Pairon is the founder of House of Madu and has worked in mental health and global development for over 10 years. She has seen and experienced first-hand how boundaries between work and life can easily become blurred when you love the work that you do and it feels really meaningful. Everything changed when she learnt how to reconnect to the innate wisdom of her body, and she decided to get certified as an Embodiment Facilitator. She is now on a mission to support purpose-driven individuals and organisations by improving their well-being so they can achieve even greater impact.
