Reimagining M&E with Reflective Stories and Learning Dialogues: 2-day workshop on 25/26 June

Towards Developing Effective Practice and Collaboration for Social Change

  • Date and time 25 June 2024, 09:00 - 16:30 CET
  • Where Two day, in person event at Social Impact Factory Aan de Gracht, Utrecht
  • For whom Development practitioners (ideally 2 persons per organisation)

How can social change practitioners strengthen the way they reflect on their experience and practice so that they continuously learn and navigate their way through complex and uncertain contexts of change? How can M&E systems be enlivened for both learning and accountability moving beyond simplistic impact measurement?

In this workshop we offer an approach that supports practitioner teams or partners to develop their own engaging ‘learning rhythms’ of regular reflection on work experiences.

The approach has three key outcomes:

  1. Practitioners learn how to write reflective stories of practice that reveal both the “outside and inside stories”, surfacing the deeper unfolding dynamics of change;
  2. Centred on these reflective stories, practitioners learn how to design, facilitate and participate in reflective learning dialogues. These dialogues help practitioner teams to reach beyond the obvious lessons to develop deeper mutual learnings and implications for practice, while cultivating significantly improved collaboration;
  3. The outcomes of the writing and dialogues become the basis for a deeper accountability to stakeholders (the board, donors) in the reports and presentations they produce.
