Programme | Block 3

Digital Journey

October 9 | 14.00-16.00

This final block of the Partos Innovation Festival will focus on Digital Journeys and Public Spaces. Jeremy Heimans discusses how power works in a hyperconnected world, and how social movements make use of it while creating a better world. We will also get the opportunity to learn from the different Joint Action Groups (JAGs) active in The Spindle's Digital Journey. For more information about the programme of block 3, see below. Note: this programme will be updated in the run-up to the Festival.

Walk-in & meet | 13.30-14.00

What is a Festival without some network opportunities? Well, during the Festival we will have plenty, ‘bring your own coffee’ style. From 14.30 we open the virtual doors for you. Talk with other participants in the chat, drop your burning questions beforehand in the Q&A, or build on your network and make new connections in the chatcarrousel, in which you will be randomly connected to other participants. We also provide some break-out rooms with interesting topics to discuss.

Jeremy Heimans | Speaker

Digital tools are changing the power structures of the world. Jeremy talks about the unexpected ways power is changing— and how new power is reshaping politics, business, and life.  Drawing on examples from business, activism and pop culture, Heimans explains how to build new power and channel it successfully. They also explore the dark side of these forces: the way ISIS has co-opted new power to monstrous ends, and the rise of the alt-right’s “intensity machine.” mHe will talk abouthwat  "New Power" means in today's connected world and how everyone can harness this rise of new power to create movements for a better world.

Jeremy is co-founder and CEO of Purpose and co-author of the 2018 bestseller New Power: How Power Works in Our Hyperconnected World - and How to Make It Work for You. He co-founded GetUp! and Avaaz. Heimans is a recipient of the Ford Foundation’s 75th Anniversary Visionary Award for his work as a movement pioneer and has been named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business.

Last March 35 Linking Pins, all deriving from various Partos member organisations, joined the Digital Journey. Together they formulated the digital challenges they experience as well as their innovative ideas to address these. This resulted in 8, and later 7, Joint Action Groups (JAGs), that worked together during the whole Journey. Together they went through all the processes, from defining their innovative ideas to realising their intended outcomes during a Hackathon and Demo Day. The JAGs will come together once more and present their outcomes and results. The JAGs will have scored each other’s innovative ideas and products on different qualities.

During this block, 7 JAGs will briefly present their concepts to you. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to chose one JAG that inspired you for a break-out session, in which you will learn more about their results. You will also have the opportunity to give feedback and input. Then, we will come back together in the plenary, and the winning JAG will be announced during this last event of the Digital Journey!

The themes of the 7 JAGs that will present to you in block 3 are:

JAG 1: Develop an online community for people with a disability or HIV/AIDS
JAG 2: Create a platform/ marketplace for digital solutions
JAG 3: Become data-driven organisations
JAG 4: Mapping a (responsible) data ecosystem
JAG 5: Learning sessions with other sectors/ markets
JAG 6: Working effectively in partnerships
JAG 7: Online training sessions
