The Journey Towards Participation: the Case of the Praxis Institute of Participatory Practices

Join us for a meet-up with Tarini Shipurkar of the Praxis Institute for Participatory Practices in India!

  • Date and time 4 November 2024, 15:30 - 17:00 CET
  • Where The Humanity Hub, the Hague
  • For whom Anyone interested in participatory practices

During this session, Tarini will provide practical insights into how her organization promotes inclusivity through capacity building, research, and innovative MEL methods. By centering people-led research and community-driven insights, Praxis aims to challenge mainstream ideas about decision-making processes by making sure that marginalised communities are heard and listened to. This approach has not only helped to highlight the often-overlooked contributions of marginalised communities, but it has also contributed to the disruption of traditional hierarchies of knowledge production.

Moreover, Tarini will present a tool that is being developed as part of the Sindhanai programme (meaning ‘critical reflection’) to analyse the legitimacy and impact of social movements and collectives. As part of this process, Praxis has worked with indigenous groups and women’s rights movements. This is part of a wider effort to rethink how donors work with collectives and movements while applying a decolonial approach.

We aim for an inspiring afternoon where we can jointly discuss how to put the principles of inclusive participation into practice!

Please note that we will start strictly at 15:30. We will open our doors at 15:15 so make sure that you are on time. Naturally, we will provide coffee, tea, softdrinks and snacks before and after the session.
