About HealthNet TPO

HealthNet TPO is a respected international non-profit organisation dedicated to improving health systems and strengthening communities in areas disrupted by conflict, disaster, and poverty. With country programmes in Afghanistan, Burundi, South Sudan,
and Colombia, and headquartered in Amsterdam, we work where health, resilience, and human dignity meet.

Our mission is simple but ambitious: to help people regain control over their health and wellbeing through locally driven, sustainable solutions. Since 1992, our approach has proven that even the most vulnerable communities possess the strength to build better futures—with the right support.

The Role: Board Member – Health Programmes & Field Operations

We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven professional to join our Board of Directors, bringing strategic expertise in international health programmes, humanitarian response, and field operations. This role will help shape HealthNet TPO’s programmatic vision and impact across some of the world’s most complex and fragile settings.

We aim for onboarding early-2026, aligning with the annual governance cycle.

crisis.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Board-level input to the development and review of HealthNet TPO’s programme and country strategies, ensuring alignment with global health and humanitarian priorities.

• Oversee and advise on programme performance, risk management, learning, and accountability.
• Serve as a strategic sparring partner to the Managing Director on operational and programmatic matters.
• Support ethical and inclusive governance, ensuring integrity, equity, and localisation principles are upheld.
• Represent HealthNet TPO in relevant international networks and advocacy forums.
• Participate actively in Board Committees and, where appropriate, join short field visits.

General Board Responsibilities

• Fulfil statutory and fiduciary Board duties.
• Contribute actively to Board discussions and strategic decision-making.
• Uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and collaboration.
• Support and challenge the executive team constructively.
• Represent HealthNet TPO and its mission externally.

What We’re Looking For

• Senior-level experience in international health, humanitarian aid, or related fields (e.g. primary healthcare, MHPSS, community health systems).
• Understanding of INGO operations, governance, and accountability frameworks.
• Knowledge of programme design, evaluation, and PMEAL frameworks.
• Familiarity with donor trends, innovative financing models, and partnerships with local and global actors.
• Previous experience on a Board or advisory body is an asset.
• Established networks in global health or humanitarian sectors.
• Field experience in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
• Alignment with HealthNet TPO’s values of equity, integrity, and localisation.

Commitment

Approximately five Board meetings per year (in person or hybrid, usually in the Netherlands), plus Committee participation and occasional representation or field visits as agreed.

This is an unpaid, voluntary role, offering significant professional and personal reward through contribution to global public health impact.

HealthNet TPO strives for diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organisation. We especially encourage applications from individuals who can help broaden the diversity of perspectives and backgrounds within our Board.
