Over dit event
Movies that Matter Festival 2025 will take place from 21 to 29 March 2025 in The Hague. With a selection of around 90 human rights films: from short films to feature-length, from fiction to documentaries. In-depth and impact programmes on human rights with activists, filmmakers, impact producers, and experts. Two interesting sessions for people in development:
‘Take on Film and Impact meetings’
On Tuesday, March 25th we invite NGOs to our ‘Take on Films and Impact’: a professional program designed for filmmakers and NGOs. Since 2022, we have supported filmmakers in refining their impact objectives and fostering connections with organizations, policymakers, and funders active in The Netherlands.
In the morning, selected teams will present their impact goals to an audience of NGOs, international organizations, and impact funders.
In the afternoon, through pre-scheduled individual meetings, NGOs and foundations interested in supporting their impact campaigns can connect with the film teams.
‘Meet the Activist’
On Friday, March 21st in the afternoon, we invite NGOs to come and meet the activists from the documentaries in our Activist Lens programme. This year, we have activists from – and films about – Sudan, South Africa, Canada, Nepal, Poland, Mexico, Russia and Indonesia. In ‘Meet the Activist’ they will be introduced and in conversation with moderator Marieke Eyskoot tell more about the work they do, how they stay motivated for their activism, and what the biggest challenges are. The afternoon will be opened by human rights ambassador Wim Geerts.
