Over dit event
For many years, we have worked together with partners from the Global South to advance women’s rights and human rights through the Fair Green and Global program. To reflect on our collective achievements and explore the future of international development, we are hosting a public event with colleagues from around the world. We will also be joined by several Dutch politicians who will contribute to the discussion.
The program will highlight the practical experiences of colleagues from Bangladesh, Guatemala, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. What have they achieved? What challenges do they face? And how are today’s shifting (inter)national political dynamics impacting their work?
Janne Nijman will share insights from the recent Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV) report, “Shrinking civic space: freedom and safety under pressure”, which highlights how fundamental freedoms are under threat globally—and why this also concerns the Netherlands.
Together with

Janne Nijman, Voorzitter Commissie Mensenrechten AIV

Mpanzu Bamenga, Tweede Kamerlid D66

Mohamed Abul Kalam Azad, Manager, Just Energy Transition Program, ActionAid Bangladesh

Fadzai Midzi, Projects officer, Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA)

Veronica Kange, Project officer, Uganda Network of Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL)
