We are happy to let you know that on March 28 Hivos is hosting the presentation of CIVICUS’ Monitor Report, People Power Under Attack 2022.
This new CIVICUS Monitor report shows that more people than ever before live in countries where state and non-state actors are routinely allowed to imprison, injure and kill people for exercising their fundamental freedoms. Over two billion people live in countries rated as ‘closed,’ the worst rating a country can receive. In the latest global assessment, there are 20+ country rating changes (downgrades and upgrades) and the report provides a closer look at the most common restrictions facing freedom of association, peaceful assembly and expression. The detention of protesters, attacks on journalists and the harassment of activists are some of the most prevalent violations from 2022.
