The “Power of (Making) Futures Report: launch and learning event

Innovative locally-led initiatives that challenge power asymmetries

ICSC, in collaboration with Partos, developed the 2024 Innovation Report. The report curates locally led initiatives that innovatively challenge the power asymmetries within the international development cooperation and social justice sector and foster local innovation ecosystems across geographies.

Open and read the report here or find seperate case study descriptions on the ICSFC website.

  • Date and time 28 May 2024, 15:00 - 16:30 CET
  • Where Online, via Zoom
  • For whom All interested international development practitioners

The 2024 Innovation Report, developed in collaboration with ICSC aims to:

  • Recognise innovators from the global south who, despite being overlooked in discussions on innovation, are pioneering novel approaches that highlight their communities’ resources and inherent power.
  • Encourage the sharing and adopting innovative experiences and ideas that prioritise local ownership and leadership, fostering learning and collaboration across organisations.
  • Enhance awareness of diverse approaches to shifting power, encouraging the development of new initiatives both for ICSOs and other organisations.

The report outlines nine innovative initiatives, categorised into three themes which are; rebalancing power dynamics in narratives and imagery; participatory funding models; and innovative approaches to development cooperation. Moreover, the report offers recommendations, drawn from shared success factors and lessons learned.

Partos and ICSC hope this report will provide Northern civil society organisations with insights and actionable steps to advance their initiatives towards a power shift, inspire them to unlock their potential and explore novel strategies and collaborations to drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

At this event, we will launch the report and focus on insights and recommendations for INGOs.

We are happy to announce that the following two panelists will share their insights and recommendations with us:
