About the Community
This Community of Practice aims to build a peer-to-peer learning space for Dutch NGOs and their international partners that wish to deepen their understanding and improve their practice on Participatory Grantmaking in their organisations. Join this community of Practice to:
- Build connections with peers with a shared focus on Participatory grantmaking.
- Learn from case-studies brought in by members, and deepen your understanding.
- Exchange best practices, challenges and tools on Participatory grant-making models and its implementation in practice.
- Discuss influencing & advocacy opportunities on PGM in the context of the Dutch Policy landscape on International Collaboration.
For who
We specifically focus on the Dutch funding context & policy framework for international collaboration, and will therefore limit the registration to Partos members, Dutch NGOs & their partners. The CoP calls on Dutch-based organisations that play an (intermediary) grantmaking role, distributing grants to global partners, movements, and initiatives. Registration for the Community of Practice is bound to the following conditions:
- This Community of Practice is only open for Dutch Based Organisations and their (international) partners/fellow consortium members.
- You do not need prior experience in PGM to participate in the community of Practice. We welcome organisations and teams at all levels and stages of applying PGM.
- While we would like to invite all of you to join, participation will be limited to one person per organization to ensure the quality of learning.
- Participation is entirely free of charge!
Participatory grantmaking
The term participatory grantmaking is something we hear more and more. But what does it mean? There are different approaches to participatory grantmaking and different definitions of the approach, but a common denominator is that grantmaking processes are designed and owned by communities themselves. It is a shift of decision-making on where funding goes, to the community that organisations aim to serve. Participatory grantmaking is an approach that is evidenced to build strong, resilient, and sustainable civil society and community networks.
More learning…
If you do not meet the registration criteria, but are interested to learn more about Participatory Grantmaking we kindly refer you this global Community on Participatory grantmaking with plenty of open learning events. Furthermore, this community of practice will also host learning events that are open to all, such as our brown bag session #1 on Participatory grantmaking models.
