Meeting the Moment: Reimagining solidarity, power and narrative in a changing sector

Partos and the Movement for Community-Led Development (MCLD), and Success Capital are excited to invite you to a collective sensemaking session on reimaging international solidarity in a changing sector. During this session, we will jointly explore how we could proactively envision and build a system of international solidarity that works for all

  • Date and time 12 June 2025, 14:30 - 17:00 CET
  • Where Amsterdam
  • For whom Programme staff, organisational leaders, policy and advocacy teams, and those interested

The international development and humanitarian sector is in flux. Amid growing political backlash, shrinking civic space, and declining trust in civil society globally, different actors,  such as INGOs, funders, grassroots actors, and everything in between, are reflecting on their roles in the system and how they need to show up now.

There is a need to collectively make sense of the current moment and recognize the power and resources we each bring to transform the system from within. In this, it is crucial to listen to Global Majority voices that call for alternative models, exploring the possibilities to reshape the system.

This in-person session will provide a space for:

  • Collective sensemaking of the dynamics shaping the current moment in civil society
  • Sharing Global Majority World perspectives on what is happening and what is needed now
  • Starting to envision a system of international solidarity that works for all

During the session Gunjan Veda, Global Secretary of MCLD and Dumiso Gatsha, founder and director of Success Capital, Botswana, will share their reflections on the transformations that are currently happening, as well as what is needed now to proactively shape the future of civil society and international solidarity.

This co-creative session is an invitation: not just to reflect, but to begin reimagining and rebuilding the future of solidarity, together.
