Treasurer for the International Board of Trustees

  • Apply for: 28/06/2026

Our team at Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) is looking for an additional member for its International Board of Trustees (BoT) to serve as our Treasurer (M/F/X). Our ideal candidate has a strong financial background and a deep commitment to feminist principles, climate justice, international solidarity, and ending structural barriers to achieving a just and sustainable world – our “Common Future”.

About the Organisation

WECF International is a not-for-profit network of ecofeminist organisations dedicated to a gender-just and healthy planet for all. Our international network consists of over 250 women’s and civil society organisations in 70 countries.

Our network of partners is supported by a team of 40 colleagues based in our 3 offices in the Netherlands, France, and Germany.

WECF International is located in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The statutes of the foundation WECF stipulate three bodies: the Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees, and the International Advisory Board.

About the Board of Trustees & the Role of Treasurer

The BoT meets 4-5 times per year (in person and online) and ensures independent guidance of the Board of Directors, approving the organisation’s annual financial accounts, reports and its multi-annual strategy. Board members also act as strategic sparring partners the directors, and may represent the organisation at policy meetings, and engage with the members of our network.

As the Treasurer, you will bring specialized financial expertise to the board, taking a lead role in monitoring WECF’s financial health, risk management, and internal controls, while acting as a strategic sparring partner for the directors and fellow trustees.

Profile

We are looking for an inspiring BoT member who:

· Has a strong affinity with WECF’s vision, mission, and intersectional approach to gender equality, human rights, and climate action.

· Has senior-level experience in financial management, financial accounting, control, or auditing (e.g., as a financial director, CFO, controller, or senior financial expert);

· Has experience with or deep knowledge of the non-profit sector, international NGOs, and complex (inter)national funding structures (such as institutional grants, EU funds, and UN funding).

· Can provide strategic financial guidance to the organisation so that it is run efficiently and in accordance with its mission.

· Has knowledge of Dutch financial policies and legal systems relevant to non-profit organisations, and can provide financial advice to directors (knowledge of German and French legal/financial systems is an advantage);

· Can provide independent supervision of the BoT, jointly with the other members of the BoT;

· Is able to join at least one BoT meeting per year physically, preferably more. It is preferable, but not a necessary requirement, to be based in the Netherlands.

What We Offer

· An inspiring supervisory role where you can directly contribute to the global ecofeminist movement and intersectional systemic change.

· Collaboration with a passionate, international network of ecofeminist experts and driven fellow board members.

· A voluntary position; all reasonable travel and accommodation expenses incurred for board activities will be fully reimbursed.

· An initial appointment for a period of 4 years, with the possibility of a one-time renewal.

Diversity and Inclusion

We believe that through diverse representation in our governance, providing different perspectives, experiences, and visions for how WECF can strengthen policy frameworks and promote local feminist action, we are better able to bring gender- and climate justice forward. We therefore aim for a minimum of 50% of our BoT members to be women and look for diversity in terms of gender composition.

In alignment with our foundation’s core values, WECF strictly opposes discrimination based on race, nationality, national minority, gender, personal state, convictions, political affinity, or sexual orientation. We actively strive towards diversity in terms of ethnicity and geographical regional representation, and warmly encourage individuals from outside the Netherlands to apply.
